How I Met Your Mother Episode 4.03 "I Heart NJ"

By jessicax0 · October 10, 2008 · 0 Comments · 2 Views

This episode I liked. It gets back to the story of how Ted and Stella are getting married and that Stella lives in New Jersey. Ted's constantly travelling to and fro and finds it hard to keep up appearences with the rest of the Scooby Gang, so he invites them all over to Stella's. Everyone seems to hate it, including Ted who has a rant about how much he hates New Jersey and thinks NY is way better. Meanwhile Robin quits her job at Metro News 1 to take what she thinks to be a great new anchor job, but turns out she only got an audition.

What I liked was that it got back to the actual story. Last weeks episode was sitcom hell based around one annoying little thing with no continuity from previous episodes or anything that future episodes can build on. I especially loved Barney's whole "fist-bump" trauma and the look he gave Robin at the end of the episode when she told everyone that she didnt get the job she was after but instead is taking a foreign correspondence job in Japan. And the episode opener was a classic Stinson moment as he tries to snag a lesbian.

It was also awesome that Stella played a big part in this episode and had good chemistry with everyone, even when her and Lily were arguing about NJ/NY. And Marshall bursting out into a huge rant about how much he hates New York because of his gigantism.

But seriously, Jason. Get a HAIRCUT! Or a new hairstylist.

Otherwise a nicely played out episode.

What movies I want to see in 2009

By jessicax0 · October 5, 2008 · 0 Comments · 3 Views

Astroboy

Growing up, I never watched Astroboy (maybe one or two episodes, i cant really remember..) but I'm really liking the 'old cartoons come new' thing that Hollywood seems to be obsessed with..

Starring Kristen Bell, who I love from Veronica Mars and Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Nicholas Cage whom I love out of everything EXCEPT National Treasure and Ghost Rider

I Love You, Man

Looks like another quirky comedy starring Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother and Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Paul Rudd (Anchorman and Knocked Up) and a groom-to-be without any close friends looking for a best man.

Generally, I love any movie with either of these actors so I'm pretty excited about this one.

That's all for now... Ive found nothing else that seems to interest me. Why is that? Movies just arent the same.

How I Met Your Mother Episode 4.02 "Worlds Greatest Burger"

By jessicax0 · October 2, 2008 · 1 Comment · 12 Views

This latest episode was for once almost fully revolved around Marshall, which I haven't really seen since 2.17 "Arrivederci, Fiero".. It was a good change though seeing as he only played a minor part in last weeks season premier "Do I Know You?". But there was something missing about this episode that has captured me throughout the entire series. This episode was very Seinfeld-sitcom, a one off episode that wont impact the rest of the series, which the writers have said they would delve into, but the one thing i love about this show is it's 4-7 episode arch's that keep the whole story running smoothly. In this episode there was no mention (or no sight) of Stella, the whole Barney and Robin thing seems to be completely forgotten and the only thing that was touched on was the fact the Marshall is still unemployed BUT Barney comes to save the day by helping him out with a job at his new client's, Goliath National Bank.

Another thing that grinded my gears about this episode was another celeb cameo, this time by Regis Philbin. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. They did this in Season 3 to boost ratings with Enrique Inglesias, Mandy Moore, Britney Spears and to an extent Sarah Chalke, but they don't realise they don't need to do it anymore. NO MORE GUEST SPOTS!!

Anyways besides that there were a few good bits in the episode as Marshall is on the hunt for the best burger he ever had, which he has forgotten where he got it. So the Scooby Gang hunt around NY for it and to their delight find it with a few bumps in the road.
